What is PROM Ransomware
PROM is a ransomware virus. Ransomware is a widespread type of virus created by scammers to extort money by stealing files. Like its counterparts, virus encrypts various types of user data (Office documents, audio, video, multimedia, archives) so that victims cannot use these files or even open them. PROM changes the extension of these files to “.PROM [prometheushelp@mail.ch]” to mark unusable. After the infection is over, PROM creates a file “RESTORE_FILES_INFO.hta” with a note that contains detailed information on decryption methods
